Today in my meanderings of the web, looking for one thing and finding ten others of so much importance that I forgot what I was researching .... I found this:

7 Things My Mother Did That Would Get Her Arrested Today... click on the Spoiled Baby....

I was one of those classic old fashioned moms who let my son go to a Giants game on the bus by himself with a friend at the age of 9 and find the correct bus home. He did, having enjoyed the game enormously thanks to my neglect. If he was 9 today and went to the game by himself - he'd have to bail out his mother. Well not him but his father and that would have created one of those family scenes that were normal then but soooo violent today.
The above image is of a 3 year old being taken care of by his Grandmother - that's me, the same person who sent her son out into the vast unknown Hinterland of Candlestick Park. What has happened? Did I turn senile? I was born senile. Are grandmothers more doting than mothers? Maybe. They have more time and they will be dead by the time the grandchild grows up to sue them for child abuse.
Nope. I as mother and as grandmother are one in the same, more or less. I am just a mother with the edge worn off the blade. Did I indulge my son by serving him between meal snacks in bed? I would have loved to - However back 45 years ago THAT would have been child abuse. Mothers who served their sons meals in such a manner would be accused of bringing their son up to be a .... homosexual. Everyone back then KNEW as a scientific fact that boys whose mothers were nice to them turned out to be, well you know. Sissies at best and a sissy is the last thing a male child should ever ever be! Sissies are the first domino in homo effect and women are to blame.
Would I send my 9 year old grandson off with a friends to see the Giants play? Of course, if that sweet little snoogums was at all interested and if I were in charge of such things. But my grandson's mother would have to bail granny out of jail. Now that's abuse!
